Q. What if I have photos I want scanned that are stuck in a photo albums?
You have a choice of either trying to remove the photos yourself, or scanning the photo albums pages. If you choose to try to remove the photos there are various tricks that may help you. You can use dental floss by working it back and forth underneath the photo. You can use a plastic paint scrapper to try to pry the pictures off. You can try to put the album in the freezer for a while to make the glue hard. Using a hair dryer on the low setting can help melt the glue and remove the photos.
If those methods do not work we can scan the photo album pages. Scanning the pages preserves the way they were stored in the albums.
Q. What is the max size photo that you can handle?
We can handle up to a 11 x 17 photo.
Q. Can you convert non-traditional items like scrapbooks, paper awards, or diplomas?
We can convert anything that will fit on our scanners. We can also convert larger items using other techniques.
Q. What types of formats are used?
TIFF or JPEG formats. Most people are familiar with JPEG format, because it is most commonly used by digital cameras. JPEG format is a LOSSY format, which means that it discards data in order to make the file size smaller. The data it discards is not supposed to be missed by the viewer. TIFF format is a LOSSLESS format. It will be the closest to what was scanned in. It keeps all the scanned data which makes the file size very large. JPEG format is fine for most users.
Q. Can the scanned items I get back be viewed on my TV?
Yes, we offer a premium 4 A Digital Life option that includes your digital files on portable storage with an exciting 1080p HD media player.
If you want the items back on a CD/DVD and your DVD player can play JPEGs. You can also get your scans back on a flash drive or portable drive which can be played on some DVD players, some TVs, and media player devices.
We can provide a DVD slideshow that can be viewed on most DVD players.
Q. Why is the audio and video conversion pick-up only?
Analog Audio (LPs/Cassettes) and Video (VCR tape/S-VHS tapes) are converted to digital in real time and we cannot speed up the process. If your VCR tape is 6 hours long it will take 6 hours to convert it. It would take too long to try to convert these items at your home.
Q. Why is it so much cheaper to convert my VCR tape to a AVI or MPEG4 file than to a DVD?
The reason why it is cheaper is because it is easier to convert your file into AVI or MPEG4 files than DVDs. And if you think about it you should want the digital files instead of the DVD. The reason why is that you get greater control and flexibility with the digital file. You will be able to edit your movie digital file, and then produce your own edited DVD.
